Patrol Division

The East Greenbush Police Departments Patrol Division is a 24 hour 7 day a week operation. Each shift is run by a Sergeant of the department. The patrol division is currently staffed with 18 patrol officers.

Members of the East Greenbush Police Department are hired from the Rensselaer County Civil Service list and attend a the Zone 5 Regional Law Enforcement Academy loctaed in Schenectady, New York. The academy is 6 month’s in length, and officers are taught courses which include Penal Law, Vehicle and Traffic Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Search & Seizure, interviewing and interrogations, juvenile law, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operation control, firearms training and certification, and survival techniques.

In addition to the officers patrol duties, EGPD officers respond to EMS calls with the Bruen Rescue Squad. Officers are trained annually in CPR, First Aid and AED. The EGPD deploys an AED Unit in a patrol vehicle during all shifts.

The patrol division covers a 24.4 square mile radius, and works on a two zone concept. Officers are assigned to patrol and respond to any and all calls for service within their zone.
